Job summary

DHL Express is hiring a GSE Maintenance A3 Technician for our Erlanger, KY hub (CVG). You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults, and support on-airfield equipment to maximize uptime.

The role supports 24/7 airport operations and requires the ability to work outdoors in all weather. Qualified candidates have 2–4 years as a heavy equipment mechanic, a high school diploma or technical equivalent, and a valid driver's license with a clean record.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years experience as heavy equipment or GSE mechanic.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or military equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Ability to pass a 10-year background check to obtain airport SIDA badge and US Customs clearance.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and reading complex schematics.
• Own tools including 1/2 in drive and a roll-around box.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose & Repair: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults on motorized GSE.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled PM services per manufacturer specs.
• System Overhauls: Rebuild engine components, transmissions, and brake assemblies.
• Electrical Systems: Read schematics for 12V/24V DC systems and ECMs.
• Safety Compliance: Conduct inspections to meet OSHA and airport safety mandates.
• Documentation: Maintain digital logs of repairs, parts and labor hours.
• Ramp Support: Respond to on-airfield equipment breakdowns to minimize delays.

Our department is growing and we are seeking the highly motivated individuals with a passion for excellence to join our team. We have an immediate career opportunity for a qualified GSE Maintenance A3 Technician at our Erlanger, KY hub (CVG airport). As an A3 GSE Mechanic, you will provide a variety of services to include performing preventative maintenance on ground support equipment, preforming daily scheduled work, as well as work that needs immediate attention due to the needs of the operation.

Position Summary

The Powered GSE Technician is responsible for performing high-quality preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and complex repairs on a diverse fleet of motorized and electrical airport ground support equipment. This includes diesel, gasoline, hybrid, and fully electric machinery used in daily airfield operations. The primary objective is to maximize equipment uptime, ensure strict compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards, and maintain a safe operating environment on the ramp.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Diagnose & Repair: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults on motorized GSE.
• Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled PM services (oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks) according to manufacturer specifications.
• System Overhauls: Rebuild engine components, transmissions, brake assemblies, and advanced hydraulic systems.
• Electrical Systems: Read schematics to diagnose 12V/24V DC systems, electronic control modules (ECMs), and high-voltage electric vehicle (EV) powertrains.
• Safety Compliance: Conduct structural inspections and weld/fabricate components to ensure equipment meets OSHA and airport safety mandates.
• Documentation: Maintain precise digital logs of all repairs, parts used, labor hours, and warranty data in the fleet management system.
• Ramp Support: Respond rapidly to on-airfield equipment breakdowns to minimize flight delays and maintain gate efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Preferred 2–4 years of experience as a heavy equipment, automotive, diesel, or GSE mechanic.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or military equivalent.
• Certifications: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Clearance: Ability to pass a 10-year check to obtain airport SIDA badging and US Customs clearance.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with diagnostic scan tools, digital multimeters, and reading complex technical schematics.
• Tools: Provide their own tool set to include tools up to ½ in drive. And a roll around Box.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally and stand, crawl, or kneel for extended periods.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, snow).
• Ability to work assigned shifts, including some holidays, to support 24/ 7 airport operations.
