Job summary

GFT, a leading infrastructure engineering firm, seeks a Power Technician to join our power group. The role offers a hybrid work environment with both in-person and remote responsibilities, focusing on substations and transmission projects in the energy sector.

You will learn design aspects of substations from 69kV to 500kV, collect field data, and develop construction plans using CADD while collaborating with senior staff and within a design team.

Qualifications

• Associated Degree or pursuing a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of related experience in the substation or power industry.
• Demonstrated interest in substation or power engineering through coursework, internships, or past experiences.
• Working knowledge of CADD Software
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Good written and verbal communications skills

What you'll be challenged to do:

The successful candidate will have a desire to learn the design aspects of various substation projects from 69kV up to 500kV. You will work with our senior staff learn and strengthen your understanding of designing utility class electrical substations

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Prepares plans and details with limited complexity in in support of broader engineering activities
• Collects field data to be used for design.
• Utilizes CADD to develop construction plans
• Works within a design group to complete projects

Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

• Associated Degree or pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• Demonstrated interest in substation or power engineering through applied academic coursework, internships, or past experiences.
• Working knowledge of CADD Software
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $28.00 - $30.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
