Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is seeking a field engineer to test and commission protection and control systems for electric utility customers across the upper Midwest. You will work from home and regularly travel to substations within your territory.

This role requires hands-on relay testing, data collection, troubleshooting, and independent on-site reporting to customers and project leads. A 3–5+ year background in utilities is expected, with a bachelor’s in EE or related field.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in utility or substation relay testing and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with relay test sets and relay software (SEL, GE or similar).
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and DC elementaries.

Job description

What you bring

• Hands‑on experience with relay test sets and relay software (SEL, GE or similar).
• A bachelor's degree in EE or a related field, or equivalent experience. NETA certification is not required.
• Comfort with flexible hours, weekends and frequent driving.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
