Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Lead Power Systems Services Specialist to design and deliver advanced power system software for electric utilities and ISOs. You will join the Software Center of Excellence, driving high‑quality applications that enhance grid reliability and efficiency.

You will collaborate across teams, implement new functionalities, and provide ongoing maintenance while interfacing with customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 5+ years of development or project delivery experience

  • Act as a member in Software Center of Excellence, representing high-quality design and development practices

  • Collaborate with system/project engineers and developers to align with product direction

As a Lead Power Systems Services Specialist, you will serve as a key member of our Software Center of Excellence, designing and delivering advanced applications that power the world’s Electric Utilities and ISOs. From Distribution Management Systems (DMS) to Dispatcher Training Simulators (DTS), your work will directly enhance grid reliability and operational efficiency. We are looking for a technical visionary who thrives on solving complex engineering problems, collaborating across teams, and delivering high-quality, mission-critical software that keeps the lights on.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Act as a member in Software Center of Excellence, representing the face of high-quality design and development practices.
  • Implement new functionalities in power system application software which includes DMS (Distribution Management System), DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) and Modeling (EMS/DTS/Oil and Gas and Distribution) applications.
  • Provide maintenance of power systems application functionality; including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces.
  • Collaborate with system/project engineers, frontend developers and Distribution Management System (DMS) application developers to implement solutions that are aligned with product direction.
  • Consults with other technical leads to ensure that project-related system design guidelines are being followed.
  • Responsible for writing DMS Functional Software Designs.
  • Provides input to technical lead on schedules and cost estimates.
  • Interfaces with customers on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise.
  • Provides marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Power Systems or a STEM major with at least 5 years of development or project delivery experience, OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a STEM major with at least 3 years of development or project delivery experience.
Desired Characteristics
  • Work and/or academic experience in the power systems area.
  • Distribution and Outage Management System.
  • Excellent programming skills in C++, Java or other related language, as required.
  • Knowledge on Perl, PowerShell and SQL (MSSQL and/or T-SQL) scripting languages.
  • Good understanding of database operation.
  • Good understanding of power systems and/or energy management systems with focus on Distribution Network Applications like Power flow, Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration, Load and Volt Var Management and Distribution Operator training Simulator.
  • Knowledge and experience with electric utility industry practices Ability to see integration issues and to preclude schedule impacts.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures.
  • Ability to make formal and informal presentation to technical and non-technical staff and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel and work at customer site, based on the project demands.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $104,000.00 and $156,000.00.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
