Job summary

RESA Power is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the location's engineering team, drive profitability, efficiency, and technical excellence for our clients across power distribution projects.

You will mentor engineers, supervise studies (arc flash, short-circuit, protection coordination), develop drawings in AutoCAD, oversee bids and quotes, and ensure compliance with NEC/NETA/OSHA. Travel up to 20% to client sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience; PE license required.
  • Minimum 10 years of related power engineering experience; PE license required.
  • Experience in power engineering studies and industrial project design.
  • Leadership skills with focus on accuracy, profitability, and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of NETA, NEC, OSHA, NFPA; adhere to electrical safety procedures.
  • Ability to interpret specs and design technical solutions for customers.
  • Short-circuit, LV/MV coordination, arc flash analysis experience.
  • Strong computer skills: Windows, MS Office, internet research; knowledge of power system analysis software.
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral) with customers and peers.
  • Collaborative, customer-focused, able to work across organization.
  • Dependable with good judgment and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license for vehicle-using roles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of location’s engineering department.
  • Develop and maintain engineering services for the location, including arc flash and coordination studies.
  • Build customer relationships and provide competitive quotes for engineering services.
  • Provide engineering cost estimates and bid proposals per location and RESA practices.
  • Hire, train, interview, review performance and develop goals for direct reports.
  • Mentor and coach engineers; ensure staff motivation and productivity.
  • Recommend promotions, transfers, hires, or exits as needed.
  • Perform power system engineering assessments including short-circuit, arc flash analysis.
  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers.
  • Write and stamp power studies or verify other engineers' studies.
  • Assess results and prepare written reports with proposals.
  • Improve electrical distribution system designs to support upgrades.
  • Apply applicable codes and standards to implement safe, dependable, cost-effective systems.
  • Provide technical support and quality control for projects.
  • Collaborate with customers, peers, and management to resolve issues.
  • Read and interpret power system diagrams; develop one-line diagrams.
  • Develop new drawings for new work, upgrades, and demos using AutoCAD.
  • Work safely in compliance with electrical safety procedures and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Manager will mentor engineering team, provide applied electrical engineering, and technical expertise for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, startup, maintenance, and repair.

Position Summary

Manager will mentor engineering team, provide applied electrical engineering, and technical expertise for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, startup, maintenance, and repair.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of location’s engineering department.
    • Develop, grow, and maintain engineering services for assigned location including but not limited to arc flash studies, coordination studies, protection files, LOTO procedures, etc.
    • Build Customer relationships and provide competitive quotes for engineering services (meet on site, via phone, email, etc. and identify their needs).
    • Provide Engineering cost estimates and bid proposals as per location and RESA practices.
  • Responsible for hiring and training for direct reports. Conduct interviews, complete job reviews, set and review professional development goals for direct reports. Mentor and coach team of engineers; Audit performance quality and build training plans for direct reports. Ensure staff is motivated and productive.
  • Make recommendations for promotions, transfers, hiring, or exiting staff members as business need dictates.
  • Perform and coach team to perform power system engineering assessments of electric power systems in the areas of proficiency of protection, short-circuit calculation, arc-flash hazard analysis, design improvements of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Provided Technical expertise to internal/external customers as business need dictates.
  • Able to write and stamp power studies and/or verify and stamp other Engineer power studies.
  • Assess results and prepare written report of findings, proposals, and improvement solutions.
  • Perform electrical design improvements primarily to support upgrades of facilities’ electrical distribution system in conjunction with needs determined in the assessment stage.
  • Utilize Engineering skills and applicable codes and standards to implement electrical systems that are safe, dependable, and cost-effective.
  • Provide technical support and quality control for assigned projects from self-and/or Engineering Team member.
  • Work effectively with customers, peers and management to resolve customer issues.
  • Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting power system wiring diagrams including DC elementary drawings.
  • Able to develop one-line diagrams and develop new drawings for new work, upgrades and/or demo drawings utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures. All work and decisions shall be conducted in strict compliance of all regulatory laws.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
Required Experience And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or experience equivalency and a minimum of 10 years related experience. PE Required.
  • Previous professional experience in power engineering studies and design experience in industrial projects is preferred.
  • Proven Leadership skills. Focus on accuracy, customer service, profitability (job costing) and efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA. Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Interpret specs to our customer requests to design technical solutions.
  • Short-Circuit, LV/MV Coordination, Arc Flash Experience with electric power systems, short-circuit, protective coordination, load flow, arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office as well as efficient use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research; Knowledge of a power system analysis software.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers. Effective communication (written and oral) and proven written and oral skills of technical topics.
  • Able to collaborate with various people throughout the organization and outside the organization-Customer Focused.
  • Dependable and responsible with good judgment, problem solving and organizational skills. Able to meet deadlines.
  • For positions that utilize a company vehicle, will be required to have a valid driver’s license.

Additional Information

Travel: up to 20%

Location: Blaine, MN

Physical Demands: Lifting a minimum of 50lbs on a daily, crawling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and working in non‑ideal conditions. Also responsible for completing computer work.
