Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Power Intern to contribute to substation and power-delivery engineering projects in a collaborative, employee-owned setting. You will assist with layouts, analyses, and drawings across multi-discipline teams in Nashville, with opportunities to visit project sites.

Your role emphasizes hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to areas like protection, controls, and renewable integration, helping you grow toward engineering independence within a dynamic power practice.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Two years completed toward a degree and a 3.0 GPA preferred.
• Familiarity with engineering software such as Bentley, Autodesk, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D or similar tools; exposure to power-system analysis software is a plus.
• Preference given to local candidates.

Responsibilities

• Take meaningful ownership of calculations and design deliverables, with field or site exposure where opportunities exist.
• Learn from experienced mentors and strengthen technical, problem-solving, and communication skills in an employee-owned culture.
