Job summary

GFT in Marlton, NJ is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Power Group in a hybrid work environment. The role focuses on power transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and building power systems with regular office presence in Marlton.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • EIT is required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain within the first year.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA codes, and energy codes.
  • 4+ years of Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Strong field survey and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with low- to medium-voltage power design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to work independently.
  • Ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on electrical system design for power transmission, distribution, and building power systems.
  • Oversee QA/QC for facilities improvement projects.
  • Engage with clients on scoping, budgets, schedules, and updates.
  • Design LV/MV power distribution, standby generation, interior/exterior lighting, and security systems.
  • Train with the high-voltage team on substation and switching station designs.
  • Perform field surveys and troubleshooting; mentor junior staff.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across disciplines.
  • Prepare deliverables from proposals through construction phase services.
  • Deliver projects on time and within client budgets.
  • Educate team on evolving electrical codes.

Job description

Overview

GFT is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our expanding Power Group in Marlton, NJ. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Marlton, NJ office. Our team works on cutting‑edge projects in power transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and building power systems.

Responsibilities
  • Work with our award‑winning team serving one of our largest clients on their critical infrastructure projects.
  • Manage quality assurance and quality control efforts for facilities improvement projects.
  • Engage directly with internal and external clients on scoping, budgets, schedules, and project updates.
  • Oversee the design of electrical systems including low/medium voltage power distribution, standby/emergency generation, interior/exterior lighting for buildings and substation yards, access control, security and fire alarm systems.
  • Train alongside our high‑voltage power team in the production of physical and relay designs for substations and switching stations for multiple clients.
  • Participate in field surveys and troubleshooting; train junior staff in the best practices for field work.
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on cross‑functional teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Produce quality deliverables in all phases of design from proposal efforts through construction phase services.
  • Deliver projects on time and within client budgets.
  • Educate the team on evolving electrical codes impacting our clients.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • EIT required; PE preferred or the ability to obtain the license within the first year of employment.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards and energy codes.
  • Strong field survey experience and hands‑on troubleshooting skills.
  • Electrical power design experience is required (low to medium voltage).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment effectively.
  • The ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lighting, and/or fire alarm design experience is a plus.
  • Security and communication design experience is a plus.
  • Experience using CAD and drafting tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation) is a plus.
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM - Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus.
  • Experience in Power Studies such as Short Circuit Study, Coordination Study, and Arc Flash Analysis is preferred.
  • Proficiency using SKM Power Tools Software or ETAP is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $85,000 - $115,000. Salary depends on experience and geographic location.
