Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Magna, Utah seeks a Power Systems Engineer 2/3 to join a multi-disciplinary team focused on designing and deploying power, control, and automation solutions for solid rocket motor manufacturing facilities. The role includes drawing packages, PLC programming, and overseeing installations with contractors.

The position requires a STEM degree, PLC experience, field-work ability, and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 2 years of industrial facility or electrical design experience (or 0 years with a Master’s).
Experience designing low- and medium-voltage power systems.
Working knowledge of PLCs (e.g. Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Schneider).
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
Ability to work in field environments, including climbing ladders, outdoors, and in confined or congested spaces.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

Work as part of a multi-disciplined project team.
Design power and control systems for industrial process equipment.
Develop control philosophies and P&ID’s.
Design electrical control systems using Allen-Bradley PLCs and Schneider SmartX controllers.
Oversee installation and startup of newly designed systems with internal craft and outside contractors.
Develop drawing packages using AutoCAD.
Provide detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation.
Develop electrical maintenance guidelines for industrial equipment.
