Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is seeking an Engineer II – Intermediate Planning to support 18–24-month transmission planning and reliability analyses. The role focuses on coordinating studies that prepare the grid for changing system needs and large-load integration.

The successful candidate will work with multiple teams and use tools like PSS/E and TARA to perform power flow, contingency, and voltage stability analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• 2 years of related power system planning or operations experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform Intermediate Planning studies across the 18–24-month horizon.
• Conduct power system studies using PSS/E and TARA (power flow, contingency, transfer, voltage stability).
• Analyze study results and identify reliability concerns with practical solutions.
• Coordinate study assumptions with Expansion Planning, Generator Interconnection, Load Integration, Markets, Forward Operations, Operations, and Resource Adequacy.
