Shield AI is seeking an early-career Test Engineer to support the testing and verification of X-BAT’sbattery energy storage,electricmotorsand high-voltage motor-drive systems. This position will be primarily responsible for setting up, operating, and refining battery storage and/ordynamometer-based test systems used to characterizeenergy storage, electricmachineand motor-drive performance.
The role sits at the intersection of electrical, mechanical and test engineeringanengineer with strong, directly relevant dynamometer experience. You will partner closely with the Power Systems team and other cross-functional engineering groups throughout design, verification,integrationand qualification.
This position is based in Seattle, WA.
Set up andoperatedynamometer systems for electric motor and motor-drive testing
Setup andoperatebattery energy storage systems for testing
Configure instrumentation, sensors, fixtures,harnessesand data-acquisition equipment
Execute test campaigns forelectromechanicalor electrochemicalsubsystems, verifying voltage rails,logic levels,performance, thermalbehaviorandoverallfunctionality
Perform testing, debugging and system-level troubleshooting
Collect and evaluate test data,identifyabnormalbehaviorand communicate findings
Support environmental qualification testing, including temperature, vibration,altitudeand humidity
Install, verify, and deployDC-sources,power converters, testfixturesand harnesses
Assistwith the design and buildout of thebatteryand/ormotor-test labs
Associate degree or higher in electrical technology, mechanical technology, mechatronicsengineering, electrical engineering, mechanicalengineeringor a related technical discipline
Hands-on experience withbatteries,dynamometers, electric motors, motor drives, powertrain systems, or comparable electromechanical equipment through employment, internships, academic teams,clubsor personal projects
Experience setting up and executing hardware tests using instrumentation,sensorsand data-acquisition equipment
Experience troubleshooting systems involving electrical and mechanical components
Familiarity with benchtop electrical equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, powersuppliesand electronic loads
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanicaldrawingsand test procedures
Understanding of laboratory safety practices, including the safe operation of high-voltage or high-power equipment
Demonstrated ownership, reliable execution, clear documentation, and effective collaboration with engineers,techniciansand cross-functional partners
