Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Senior Power Quality Engineer to shape the next generation of power infrastructure for hyperscale data centers and AI computing environments. This owner-side role focuses on power quality, generation integration, BESS, interconnection, and dynamic load analysis, directing engineering firms and consultants.

You will lead studies, review external deliverables, evaluate harmonics and transient stability, support interconnections and large-scale storage, and guide protection

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in power systems or energy infrastructure environments.
• Experience with interconnections, BESS, HV substations and large-scale systems.
• Familiar with ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerWorld and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight of power quality and power system studies.
• Review designs, calculations, and deliverables from external partners.
• Evaluate harmonics, transient stability, voltage performance and ride-through requirements.
• Support utility interconnections, behind-the-meter generation, and large-scale storage systems.

• Collaborate with utilities, OEMs, EPC firms, and stakeholders to ensure reliable performance.

Job description

We're seeking a Senior Power Quality Engineer to help shape the next generation of power infrastructure supporting hyperscale data centers and large-scale AI computing environments.

This is a highly visible owner-side engineering role focused on power quality, generation integration, BESS, interconnection, and dynamic load analysis. Rather than performing every study yourself, you'll serve as the technical authority responsible for directing, reviewing, and validating the work of engineering firms, OEMs, and consultants.

What You'll Do

• Lead technical oversight of power quality and power system studies
• Review and challenge designs, calculations, and engineering deliverables from external partners
• Evaluate harmonics, transient stability, voltage performance, ride-through requirements, and dynamic load interactions
• Support utility interconnections, behind-the-meter generation, and large-scale energy storage systems
• Validate BESS sizing, inverter specifications, and mitigation strategies
• Guide protection, relay coordination, load-shedding, and commissioning activities
• Collaborate with utilities, OEMs, EPC firms, and project stakeholders to ensure reliable system performance

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in power systems, power quality, generation, utility, transmission, or energy infrastructure environments
• Experience reviewing studies such as load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash, harmonics, and transient stability
• Working knowledge of ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerWorld, or similar tools
• Experience with utility interconnections, generation facilities, substations, BESS, microgrids, or large industrial power systems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to represent ownership interests across multiple stakeholders

9 month contract to hire

Hourly rate up to $96hr and converting permanent up to $200,000
