Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC is seeking a Process Engineer (Power and Recovery) at the Brewton, AL mill to provide technical support, test and advance processes, and collaborate with operators, management and leadership to improve efficiency and reduce costs. You will work with a team to enhance safety, sustainability, and automation while supporting scheduled shutdowns and capital projects.

The role reports to the Utilities Production Area Leader and participates in a culture built on Principle-Based

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Pulp & Paper Technology or 3+ years experience in lab testing, lab analysis, data mining and energy balances for manufacturing process.
• Computer experience including Excel, Word, functional databases, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate a culture of safety and environmental excellence through hazard identification, risk reduction, and risk mitigation.
• Develop sustainable processes with peers and mentor employees.
• Provide operational and technical support (lab testing, lab analysis, energy balances) for the manufacturing process and troubleshoot to achieve goals.
• Lead safety, quality and cost-reduction initiatives to maximize value and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and support automation and programming for safe, reliable operation.
• Assist in planning scheduled shutdowns, operator training, and maintenance or capital projects.
• Supply data and technical support for a 5-year planning process for improvements in Operator Basic Care and strategic capital projects.
