Job summary

Luminant Power LLC in Massachusetts seeks a skilled plant operator to perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on gas plant equipment. You will help ensure safe, reliable operation of the gas fleet under site management guidance.

The role requires a 1st Class Fireman license in MA and typically 4–6 years related experience, plus strong troubleshooting and computer skills. A sign-on bonus may be offered for MA licensees.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of related experience, preferably via college degree programs or certifications.
  • Massachusetts Stationary 1st Class Fireman License is required.
  • Massachusetts 3rd Class Stationary Engineer License is preferred.
  • Proficient computer-based skills and effective oral & verbal communication.
  • Independent troubleshooting knowledge; pass POSS/MASS pre-employment test.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant equipment through daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement, and installation.
  • Troubleshoot, document findings, and assist in resolving shift problems.
  • Make repair decisions and recommend techniques to peers and management.
  • Conduct excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Operate material handling equipment.
  • Develop and implement plant operating procedures.
  • Understand equipment relationships and instruct lower-level staff as needed.
  • Ensure safety, health, and environmental procedures including Lockout/Tagout, JSA, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, PPE.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment at a gas plant. The role ensures proper functioning, safety, and reliability of the gas fleet equipment under the direction of site management.

Benefits

Pay range: $36‑49 hourly, based on skills and experience.
Eligible for up to 8% annual bonus, 4% profit sharing, 6% 401(k) match, and medical/dental/vision benefits for the employee and eligible dependents.
New hires with a Massachusetts license may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus.

Key Accountabilities
  • Maintain plant equipment through daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement, and installation.
  • Perform troubleshooting, document findings, and assist in resolving problems discovered on shift.
  • Make repair decisions and recommend appropriate techniques to peers, supervisors, and plant management.
  • Conduct excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Operate material handling equipment.
  • Develop and implement plant operating procedures.
  • Understand equipment relationships to plant systems and provide instruction to lower‑level employees when required.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, and PPE education.
Education & Experience
  • 4‑6 years of related experience, preferably through college degree programs or certifications.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: Massachusetts Stationary 1st Class Fireman License.
  • Preferred: Massachusetts 3rd Class Stationary Engineer License.
  • Proficient computer‑based skills and effective oral & verbal communication.
  • Independent troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Must successfully pass the POSS/MASS pre‑employment test.

  • Satisfactory completion of Tier3 training and qualification requirements.
  • Demonstrate continual self‑improvement in job skills and knowledge.
