Job summary

Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. seeks a Plant Operator to perform operating duties across the Power Block, FGD, and EPF areas.

You will inspect, adjust, lubricate, and operate plant equipment, while training others and supporting safety and environmental compliance. Qualifications include a high school diploma and 2+ years in power plant ops; strong communication, problem solving, and manual skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Additional formal education in math and science preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of prior experience in power plant operations as a Utility Operator or the equivalent.
• Must complete training for Plant Operator I.

Responsibilities

• Provides feedback to coworkers, contractors and visitors on safe and at risk practices.
• Participates in safety improvement activities and efforts.
• Communicates equipment conditions and events to Operations during shift changes.
• Performs visual inspection of assigned equipment.
• Lubricates equipment as required.
• Maintains work area in a clean, orderly condition.
• Communicates operating conditions to plant employees.
• Reports abnormal conditions and takes corrective actions.
• Operates and places auxiliary/ accessory equipment in service following sequence.
• Records instrument readings, maintains logs and charts.
• Participates in safety meetings and training.
• Complies with Plant LOTO procedures.
• Operates all Plant equipment as trained.
• Adheres to OSHA and SECI safety rules; completes safety courses.
• Adheres to environmental courses and reports incidents.
• Ability to drive vehicles and mobile equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
