Job summary

WECTEC Staffing Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, is seeking an experienced Power Plant Operator for operations in Middletown, CA. You will oversee safe, reliable operation of plant equipment, perform startups/shutdowns, monitor performance, and coordinate maintenance actions.

The role requires knowledge of safety and environmental compliance, DCS/SCADA familiarity, and the ability to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of power plant operations experience preferred.
• Experience operating utility-scale power generation facilities (geothermal, combined cycle, cogeneration, gas-fired, or steam).
• Knowledge of plant operating procedures, safety and environmental compliance.
• Familiarity with DCS, SCADA, or distributed control systems.
• Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical docs.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts and respond to call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate power generation equipment from control room and field.
• Perform startups, shutdowns, and system alignments per procedures.
• Conduct routine inspections and equipment monitoring for safety and reliability.
• Record operating data, readings, and performance metrics.
• Troubleshoot equipment/process issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Support maintenance activities and LOTO procedures.
• Respond to plant upsets, alarms, and emergencies.
• Operate pumps, compressors, and water treatment systems.
• Maintain regulatory compliance (environmental, safety, operating).
• Create work requests and document deficiencies in CMMS (Maximo).
• Collaborate with maintenance technicians and plant management to optimize performance.
