WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

WARREN FACILITY, CARSON

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform professional engineering work and coordinate progressively more complex projects in the A.K. Warren Water Resource Facility Section.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of a Supervising Engineer, the incumbent will plan, conduct, and support engineering projects related to the operation and maintenance of the Total Energy Facility at the Warren Facility; develop and recommend engineering solutions for the facility; interact with other Sanitation Districts’ departments, regulatory agencies, and the public; and perform duties to ensure compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.

Candidates must possess:

• A valid California Class C driver's license

-AND-

ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE II LEVEL

• Option A: A bachelor's degree in a pertinent engineering discipline - AND - a master's degree in a pertinent engineering discipline.
• Option B: A bachelor's degree in a related science - AND - an Engineer-In-Training Certificate - AND - a master's degree in a pertinent engineering discipline.
• Option C: A bachelor's degree in engineering - AND - two years of professional engineering experience obtained after earning a bachelor's degree in engineering.

ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE III LEVEL

• Option A: Two (2) years of experience as an Engineering Associate II.
• Option B: Four (4) years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university.

ENGINEER LEVEL

Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer with the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists AND:

• Option A: A master's degree in engineering - AND - three years of professional engineering experience.
• Option B: A PhD in engineering - AND - two years of professional engineering experience.
• Option C: Six years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree in engineering.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with oversight of combined cycle power plant operations, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas pretreatment systems, gas turbine operation, steam systems/turbine operation; a Bachelor and/or Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with the California Board of Professional Engineers.

SELECTION PROCESS

• Applications and Supplemental Questions will be reviewed and evaluated for relevant experience.
• Candidates considered to have the best qualifications will be invited to an oral interview.
• The selection process will consist of an oral interview weighted at 100%.
• An eligibility list will be established upon completion of the interview based on the interview scores.
