Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Power Plant Engineer to provide engineering support to improve reliability, efficiency and overall performance. You will work with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to monitor equipment and lead reliability improvements at Aquasco, MD.

Responsibilities include monitoring plant performance, investigating outages, and managing projects while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• 3+ years supporting power plant operations, maintenance or reliability.
• Experience with electrical/instrumentation/control systems in industrial facilities.
• Familiarity with OSIsoft PI, CEMS, DAHS and plant performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize plant performance, reliability and efficiency.
• Investigate failures, outages and abnormal conditions; perform root cause analyses.
• Maintain electrical/instrumentation/control systems (DCS, PLCs, relays, MCCs).
• Lead studies, upgrades and capital projects with multiple teams.
• Maintain documentation and configuration controls for compliance.

About the role:

Aquasco, MD

We are looking for a Power Plant Engineer to provide engineering support to improve plant reliability, efficiency, and overall performance. You will work with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to monitor plant equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, lead root cause investigations, manage engineering projects, and implement reliability improvements across the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and optimize plant performance, reliability, and efficiency for combustion turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and auxiliary systems.
• Investigate equipment failures, forced outages, and abnormal operating conditions, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including DCS, PLCs, protective relays, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and MCCs.
• Perform condition monitoring and predictive maintenance activities using vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other reliability tools.
• Lead engineering studies, equipment upgrades, and capital projects while coordinating with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors.
• Maintain engineering documentation, plant drawings, and configuration controls to ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• We prefer Electrical Engineering; we will consider Mechanical Engineering, Power Generation Engineering, or other related engineering disciplines.
• 3+ years of experience supporting power plant operations, maintenance, reliability, or engineering in a utility, energy, or heavy industrial environment.
• Experience with electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems within an industrial facility.
• Experience with DCS, PLCs, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, and MCCs.
• Knowledge of predictive maintenance and condition monitoring technologies, including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis.
• Experience in combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or fossil-fueled power generation facilities.
• Familiarity with OSIsoft PI, CEMS, DAHS, and plant performance monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of NERC reliability standards and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting combustion turbines, steam turbines, and HRSG systems.
• Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license.
