Job Title: Power Plant Performance Engineer (Long-Term Contract)

Job Type: Long-Term Contract

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Power Plant Performance Engineer for a long-term contract position in Billingsley, AL. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in power generation systems, preferably within coal-fired or gas power plants. This role involves performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing plant equipment and pollution control systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and analyze power plant performance, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  2. Troubleshoot plant systems, equipment, and pollution control processes such as FGD, SCR, ESP, Fabric Filters, MATS, SO3, etc.
  3. Utilize plant information systems/software and remote monitoring for performance tracking.
  4. Conduct site walk-downs and equipment inspections to assess system conditions.
  5. Provide outage support, inspections, and repair planning to optimize plant performance.
  6. Collaborate with OEM designers (GE, URS, Mitsubishi) for equipment assessments and improvements.
  7. Work independently across multiple plant locations, making data-driven recommendations.
  8. Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  2. 5-7 years of experience in power plant operations or engineering.
  3. Strong troubleshooting skills in power plant equipment and system performance.
  4. Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple plant sites.
  5. Experience in fieldwork, system inspections, and outage planning.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a plant environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with OEM systems from GE, URS, Mitsubishi, etc.
  2. Hands-on experience in outage support, repair planning, and performance issue resolution.
