Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation seeks an electrical technician for its Combined Cycle/Combustion Turbine facility. You will perform electrical maintenance on motors, breakers, transformers, relays, switchgear, and perform instrumentation and control repairs in a multi-craft team environment.

Requirements include an Associate’s degree with 2 years of related work, or HS Diploma/GED with 2 years, strong communication, ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness to work 24/7 shifts, overtime, and travel

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and 2 years related work experience or HS Diploma/GED with 2 years related work experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical drawings and OEM manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance on powerhouse equipment (motors, breakers, transformers, relays, switchgear).
  • Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation, electrical and control systems (Ovation, MKVI, PLCs).
  • Calibrate instruments and support mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Work safely in a multi-craft team and follow LOTO/safety procedures.
  • Read technical drawings and OEM manuals to guide maintenance work.
