Job summary

ISO New England Inc. invites graduate students to join a Power Market Simulation Intern role in the Market Development department. You will apply coding, statistics, and data skills to electricity market simulation and decision support for New England’s wholesale markets.

You will collaborate with economists, engineers, and data scientists to prototype tools, develop dashboards, and transform complex market data into actionable insights that inform market design decisions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or in‑progress in a quantitative field (Statistics, Data Science, CS, Economics, OR).
• Strong coding skills with Python required.
• Working knowledge of SQL for data handling and analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; ability to translate questions into analysis.
• Familiarity with regression, statistics, or related methods preferred.
• Good written and oral communication to present findings.

Responsibilities

• Develop early‑stage prototypes or pilot tools to improve analysis workflows.
• Create dashboard concepts, visualizations, and outputs for simulation results.
• Support data preparation, coding, and analytical studies for market design or simulation.
• Transform complex datasets into usable insights for internal decision making.
• Contribute to tools/workflows that may be further developed with IT.
