Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions is seeking a Power Integrity Engineer for Valley Green, PA to analyze, simulate, and optimize power delivery networks for next-generation high-speed systems. You will work closely with signal integrity, PCB design, and hardware teams to ensure robust power delivery that meets impedance requirements.

This hands-on role requires strong technical skills and collaboration in a fast-paced environment, with 3+ years in PI/HI design and opportunities for career growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred) and 3+ years in PI/HI or hardware design.
  • Hands-on experience with PDN simulation tools and SPICE/ transient load modeling.
  • Strong understanding of PDN impedance, VRM behavior, and decoupling network design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform power integrity simulations (AC impedance, DC IR drop, transient analysis) for PDN performance.
  • Design and optimize decoupling strategies, capacitor selection, and placement for complex boards.
  • Interact with customers to determine their power interconnect needs.
  • Perform EMI/EMC risk assessments related to power distribution.
  • Collaborate with SI engineers to co-optimize power and signal integrity.
  • Develop PDN models and validate through lab measurements (VNA impedance sweeps, oscilloscope ripple).
  • Work with PCB designers on layer stack-up, plane assignments, and power routing.
  • Assist in root-cause analysis and debugging of customer power-related issues.
  • Document best practices and contribute to design guidelines for PDN.

Position: Power Integrity Engineer

Location: Valley Green, PA

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a Power Integrity Engineer to join our Cable Backplane Systems team. The position will be located in Valley Green, PA.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Power Integrity (PI) Engineer to join our high-performance engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, simulating, and optimizing power delivery networks (PDN) for next-generation high-speed systems. The concentration will be specifically on interconnects. You will work closely with signal integrity, PCB design, and hardware teams to ensure robust power delivery that meets primarily impedance requirements with the possible addition of requirements for noise and ripple. Additional responsibilities could include the evaluation of shielding for EMI/EMC remediation.

This is a hands-on engineering role that requires strong technical skills, creative problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in power integrity, signal integrity, or hardware design
  • Hands-on experience with PDN simulation tools (examples: Keysight PIPro, ANSYS Q3D, HFSS, and SIwave, Cadence Sigrity PowerSI, etc.)
  • Experience with SPICE simulation and transient load modeling
  • Strong understanding of PDN impedance, VRM behavior, and decoupling network design
  • Proficiency in PCB stack-up design, power plane resonance control, and capacitor optimization
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills

Preferred

  • Familiarity with high-speed digital systems (SerDes, DDR, PCIe)
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance testing and mitigation techniques
  • Background in scripting or automation (MATLAB, Python) for data analysis
  • Experience with lab instrumentation: VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers
