Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Power HVAC Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel engines, HVAC, and related equipment in our Power/HVAC division. You’ll perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshoot complex systems, and ensure safe operation while delivering excellent customer service on every site visit.

The role involves travel to customer sites, collaboration with service teams, and ongoing opportunities to advance within our technical hierarchy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines or HVAC equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and related systems.
• Solid mechanical knowledge, especially with various engines.
• Ability to read schematics/diagrams.
• Own the tools applicable to position.
• Excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment.
• Report machine condition to management and document service.
• Travel to customer sites as needed.
• Demonstrate equipment to customers.
• Train lower level technicians as needed.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools
• Report machine condition to Management
• Responsible for service documentation
• Occasional travel to customer sites
• Demonstrate equipment for customers
• Train lower level technicians as needed
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience with repairing and maintaining diesel engines or HVAC equipment
• Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems
• Strong mechanical background knowledge particularly with various engines
• Basic understanding of schematics and diagrams
• Own the tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
