Job summary

GenServe is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Power Generator Technician to join our growing team. In this entry-level role, you'll assist experienced Gen Techs with the service, inspection, and maintenance of emergency backup generators and associated equipment for a variety of commercial and industrial units.

This position is ideal for candidates to work independently on residential units and are eager to build a career in the power generation industry through hands-on experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in diesel engines, small engines, generators, or electrical systems is a must or prior experience.
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record.
  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in field/outdoor conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of power generation equipment or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs of diesel, natural gas, and propane standby generators.
  • Perform oil and filter changes, coolant checks, battery testing, and fuel system inspections.
  • Support diagnostic and troubleshooting efforts on electrical and mechanical generator systems.
  • Help load and unload parts and tools for service calls.
  • Keep service trucks and work areas clean, organized, and stocked.
  • Complete required service documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Follow GenServe's safety guidelines, procedures, and customer site rules at all times.
  • Attend internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and product knowledge.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to respond to emergency service requests and ensure timely resolution of customer issues.
