Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Distribution Design Intern for our Summer 2027 program in Arlington, TX. This paid full-time internship runs June through August 2027 and may transition to a full-time role after graduation.

You will work under project managers and team leaders with engineers, scientists, and technologists. Responsibilities include supporting design development, reviewing maps, preparing material lists and cost estimates, and coordinating project documentation in

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Junior or senior pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Support electric utility distribution projects by assisting with design development, documentation, and project coordination.
• Review maps and utility records, update design drawings and construction sketches, prepare BOM and cost estimates, organize project documentation.
• Assist with overhead and underground distribution design tasks for line extensions, pole replacements, service upgrades, and reliability improvements.
• Office-based role exposing to utility design standards, engineering workflows, and project delivery processes.
• Perform other related duties as necessary.
