Leidos is seeking experienced Project Managers to join our Strategic Program Consulting team within Power Delivery Solutions division. You will work with engineering managers and account managers to provide Project Management Services supporting a large electric utility client across Kentucky and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities include leading project execution, owning portfolio performance, client interface, mentoring staff, invoicing, and pursuing business development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive Project Management experience within Electric Utility industry.
  • Experience with US Electric Utilities and understanding of power infrastructure.
  • Proficient with Primavera P6 or MS Project; strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electric utility project teams to deliver capital transmission substation projects.
  • Own portfolio performance: cost, schedule, scope management.
  • Interface with clients and stakeholders to report progress and mitigate risks.
  • Mentor and develop project management staff.
  • Manage monthly invoicing, accruals, and AR processes.
  • Identify opportunities for business development.
  • Ensure contract compliance and quality control.

Description

Leidos Engineering is seeking experienced Project Managers to join our Strategic Program Consulting team within our Power Delivery Solutions division. In this role, you will work alongside engineering managers and account managers to provide Project Management Services supporting a large electric utility client. You will work with a diverse blend of Capital Transmission/Substation in the greater Kentucky area including Louisville, Lexington and Cincinnati.

The Project Manager will be part of Leidos’ Power Delivery Solutions Division that provides consulting services to both public- owned and investor-owned electric utilities. These consulting services provide clients with overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution, substation and transmission line projects nationwide.

This role has remote working capabilities, however, periodic travel to client sites throughout Kentucky area including Louisville and Lexington may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead electric utility project execution teams with a diverse set of contributors - including Engineering, Construction, Permitting, Siting, Environmental, Cost Controls and Scheduling functions - to deliver comprehensive capital transmission substation projects for electric utility clients.
  • Take ownership of overall portfolio performance, including cost, schedule, and scope management
  • Interface with clients and internal stakeholders to address issues, report progress, and mitigate risks across the project portfolioMentor and develop project management staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
  • Manage monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processes
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities to support organizational growth
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality control standards
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, project teams, subcontractors, and support personnel
  • Identify project risks and mitigation strategies
Background Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related field
  • A minimum of 4+ years of progressive Project Management experience within the Electric Utility Industry;Experience as a Project Manager directly at an electric utility is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated Experience working with US Electric Utilities, and a comprehensive understanding of electric power and infrastructure projects is required
  • Direct experience working with electric power infrastructure projects
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on portfolio management and team development
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel periodically as required
  • Proficiency utilizing Primavera P6 or MS Project suite with a heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel (must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Excel)

Candidates with varying levels of experience may be considered, and pay ranges will be commensurate with selected candidates' experience and qualifications.

  • Supervisory experience including team building and talent acquisition
  • Previous experience working with Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities as a customer
  • Proven knowledge of PowerPlan enterprise project performance software
  • PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within two years
  • Prior experience in a leadership position
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience with PowerBI and/or visualization tools
