Job summary

Prodapt seeks a specialized Power BI Migration Engineer to lead modernizing legacy reporting by migrating paginated reports from SSRS to Power BI Cloud / Fabric. You will redesign data models, convert outputs, and implement interactive dashboards to maximize Fabric investment.

Responsibilities include migration assessment, report conversion, semantic modeling with DAX and M, and ensuring data security and governance across cloud and on-prem data sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, BI or related field.
• Migration experience: proven track record migrating SSRS to Power BI Cloud / Fabric.
• Deep knowledge of SSRS, Report Builder, T-SQL, SSMS; cloud stack includes Power BI and Fabric.
• Strong SQL, DAX and Power Query (M) skills.
• Understanding of data warehousing, star schemas, and dimensional modeling.
• Strong analytical thinking and stakeholder communication skills during downtime or report changes.

We are seeking a specialized Power BI Migration Engineer to lead the modernization of our legacy reporting infrastructure. In this role, you will drive the end-to-end migration of paginated reports from SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to the cloud-based Power BI service / Microsoft Fabric platform. You will be responsible for evaluating legacy reports, redesigning data models for cloud compatibility, converting paginated outputs, and implementing modern interactive dashboards that maximize our Microsoft Fabric investment.

Responsibilities

• Migration Assessment: Evaluate the existing SSRS reporting catalog to catalog dependencies, identify redundancies, and plan the migration wave strategy.
• Report Conversion: Convert legacy SSRS RDL files into Power BI Paginated Reports and rebuild standard reports into interactive Power BI dashboards.
• Semantic Modeling: Design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade Power BI Semantic Models using DAX and Power Query (M formula language).
• Fabric Cloud Integration: Deploy and manage report assets within the Microsoft Fabric SaaS environment, utilizing Fabric workspaces, capacities, and deployment pipelines.
• Data Source Modernization: Transition legacy SQL queries and stored procedures into cloud-optimized data connections, leveraging Fabric Shortcuts, Lakehouses, or Data Warehouses where applicable.
• Security & Governance: Implement cloud-based data security standards, including Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), and Fabric RBAC configurations.
• Gateway Management: Configure and maintain On-Premises Data Gateways to ensure secure, automated data refreshes between on-prem sources and the Fabric cloud.
• Testing & Validation: Conduct rigorous parallel testing between SSRS and Power BI to guarantee absolute data accuracy, alignment, and formatting consistency.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, or a related technical field.
• Migration Expertise: Proven track record of successfully executing at least one large-scale SSRS to Power BI Cloud / Fabric migration.
• Tech Stack Mastery:
• Legacy Stack: Deep expertise in SSRS, Report Builder, T-SQL, stored procedures, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
• Cloud Stack: Advanced knowledge of the Power BI Service, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Paginated Report Builder, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Languages: Expert-level SQL and advanced proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M).
• Architecture Understanding: Strong grasp of standard data warehousing principles, star schemas, dimensional modeling, and cloud data platform architecture.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the communication skills required to manage business stakeholder expectations during downtime or report layout changes.
