About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Power BI Product Development Intern to support the development, enhancement, documentation, and demo preparation of a financial management dashboard solution for federal customers.
This role is ideal for a current student or recent graduate who is interested in Power BI, data analytics, product development, financial systems, and GovTech solutions. The intern will work closely with the current dashboard developer, leadership, and a senior consultant to help move the dashboard toward a more polished, reusable, and demo-ready version.
The intern will receive hands‑on exposure to dashboard development, product documentation, user experience improvement, testing, and federal financial management use cases. For the right candidate, this summer internship may lead to a full-time role in the fall.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Power BI dashboard development, enhancement, testing, and documentation.
- Assist with updating report pages, visuals, slicers, filters, drill-throughs, navigation, and formatting.
- Help refine operational dashboard and managerial dashboard components.
- Implement dashboard updates based on guidance from the current developer, senior consultant, and leadership.
- Assist with documenting dashboard pages, data fields, measures, filters, assumptions, and user‑facing functionality.
- Support preparation of demo‑ready dashboard versions using approved data or mock/sample data.
- Maintain a dashboard issue log, enhancement tracker, and testing checklist.
- Help test dashboard functionality, including page navigation, visual interactions, filters, slicers, and data refresh behavior.
- Assist with creating user guides, demo notes, FAQs, and internal product documentation.
- Support product development activities such as organizing enhancement ideas, documenting user needs, and tracking feedback.
- Work on‑site at a government office and maintain professionalism in a federal customer environment.

Qualifications
- Current undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate.
- Ability to work on‑site at a government office.
- Interest in Power BI, data analytics, dashboard development, product development, or federal technology solutions.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data organization.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
- Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently while receiving guidance from senior team members.
- Professional, reliable, and comfortable working in a federal customer environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Power BI, Power Query, DAX, Excel, SQL, or data visualisation tools.
- Experience building dashboards, reports, charts, or data models for school projects, internships, or prior work.
- Familiarity with financial data, accounting, budgeting, ERP systems, or government operations is a plus.
- Interest in GovTech, federal consulting, financial management systems, or business intelligence solutions.
- Ability to organise technical details into clear documentation.
- Comfortable testing dashboards and identifying issues, inconsistencies, or improvement opportunities.
