Job description

We are seeking a seasoned BI Developer who brings deep, hands-on expertise in both Power BI and Tableau. In this role, you will architect, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade analytics solutions that empower stakeholders with actionable insights. Assist and develop the strategy in migrating the Tableau to Power BI reports.

Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Design & Development
   
   • Architect and build interactive dashboards, reports, and data models in Power BI and Tableau.
   • Translate complex business requirements into scalable BI solutions.


2. Feature Comparison & Migration
   
   • Analyze and map feature-by-feature differences between Tableau and Power BI.
   • Lead end-to-end migrations from Tableau to Power BI, ensuring fidelity of visualizations, calculations, and data models.


3. Data Modeling & ETL
   
   • Design star/snowflake schemas; implement robust semantic layers using DAX, M, and Tableau data extracts.
   • Develop and optimize ETL pipelines (Power Query, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent).


4. Performance Optimization
   
   • Tune report performance: implement incremental refresh, query folding, extract optimization, and best-practice visualization techniques.


5. Governance & Administration
   
   • Manage Power BI Service and Tableau Server/Online environments: security, workspace/report lifecycle, data-refresh schedules, version control.
   • Enforce data governance standards: row-level security, naming conventions, documentation.


6. Stakeholder Engagement
   
   • Partner with business analysts, data engineers, and leadership to define KPIs and deliver insights.
   • Lead requirement-gathering sessions, conduct solution demos, and provide end-user training.


7. Continuous Improvement & Mentorship
   
   • Evaluate new BI features, extensions, and third-party tools to enhance capabilities.
   • Mentor junior developers; establish best practices, coding standards, and reusable assets.

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. BI Expertise (8+ years): Proven track record delivering production BI solutions across the full lifecycle in both Power BI and Tableau.


2. Power BI:
   
   • Expert in Power BI Desktop, Service, and Report Server.
   • Advanced DAX (calculated tables, measures) and Power Query M.
   • Experience with deployment pipelines, REST API integrations, and embedded analytics.


3. Tableau:
   
   • Deep knowledge of Tableau Desktop, Server/Online administration, and Tableau Prep.
   • Mastery of LOD expressions, table calculations, and performance recording.


4. Tableau Power BI Feature Mapping & Migration:
   
   • Deep understanding of comparative features and semantics in Tableau vs. Power BI.
   • Hands-on experience correlating visual, calculation, and data model constructs and executing high-fidelity migrations from Tableau to Power BI.


5. Data Engineering & SQL:
   
   • Strong SQL skills across SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or other relational/analytical databases.
   • Hands-on experience with ETL frameworks (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Matillion, etc.).


6. Programming & Scripting:
   
   • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, R, or PowerShell) for data automation and custom integrations.


7. Soft Skills:
   
   • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
   • Proven ability to mentor and lead small BI teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Certified
• Tableau Desktop Specialist/Certified Professional or Tableau Server Qualified Associate.
• Experience with embedded analytics (Power BI Embedded, Tableau Extensions API).
