Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Front-End/BI Data Engineer to support the US Navy in a 100% onsite role, open to candidates in Norfolk, VA. The engineer will design and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and enterprise reporting solutions, ensuring data pipelines meet reporting needs.

You will work with backend data engineers, understand ETL pipelines, and ensure data quality across legacy and enterprise systems while leveraging Azure Data Factory and SQL in a DoD-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of hands-on Data Engineering, BI, or BI reporting experience.
• Active Secret clearance required.
• IAT Level II certification required.
• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including building reports & dashboards.
• Experience with SQL and SQL databases.
• Understanding of ETL/data transformation, staging, aggregation, and data pipelines.
• Experience with enterprise datasets and reporting preparation.
• Experience integrating data from multiple, disparate, or legacy systems.
• Azure Data Factory experience to support pipelines feeding reporting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Translate business requirements into meaningful data visualizations and reporting products.
• Work with transformed and aggregated enterprise datasets to develop reporting solutions.
• Partner with backend data engineers to ensure data is available and optimized for reporting.
• Understand data pipelines, transformations, staging processes, and repositories supporting reporting.
• Develop SQL queries and work with SQL databases to prepare data for reporting.
• Identify data quality issues and data gaps affecting reporting accuracy.
• Work with data from legacy, disparate, and enterprise systems to feed reporting.
• Support data ingestion and transformation activities including Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Develop dashboards and reports that make complex data accessible to stakeholders.
• Optimize Power BI reports, data models, queries, and visualizations for enterprise use.
• Collaborate with backend data engineers on data requirements and reporting architecture.
• Document reporting solutions and data dependencies.
