Job summary

Skyworks’ RMI team in Irvine, California offers a 6-month Co-Op internship focused on Power Amplifier (PA) and RF front-end design for WiFi and Infra applications. You’ll work on device-level engineering, simulations, testing, and design reviews to gain hands-on experience in RF/analog IC development.

The role provides exposure to circuit design, lab testing, and collaboration across teams, with an emphasis on practical learning and professional growth for engineering students.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in BS, MS, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of electronic circuits and RF/analog design.
• Familiarity with design tools such as ADS, Momentum, HFSS, Cadence, SPICE is a plus.
• Experience with RF test equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the R&D of analog and RF ICs for wireless applications.

Job Description

The RMI team located in Irvine, California is home to Skyworks' design center for RF front-end solutions and power amplifiers for WiFi and Infra applications and has a challenging opportunity for an Co-Op student available for a 6 month work term. This internship will focus on Power Amplifier (PA) Design and student will apply sound engineering skills to a variety of task and project assignments in the area of electronics, design engineering, and semiconductor component test development.

This position will provide the student with a well-rounded introduction to the RF electronic component design environment and suits individuals seeking a career in the field of RF and analog integrated circuits.

Winter/Spring Internship period will be from January to June 2027.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to the research and development of advanced analog and RF integrated circuits for wireless communication applications.
• Circuit simulation, lab testing of circuits, presentation of design expectations/results, and participation in design reviews.
• Assist in new product engineering and design activities.
• Assist in new product testing and characterization, tuning, and microsurgery.
• Assisting senior engineering group members with their project assignments.
• Completion of a silicon, GaAs, or GaN IC design project.

Required Experience and Skills

• Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or Ph.D. academic program (Electrical Engineering or related)
• Knowledge of electronic circuits and principles.
• An interest and aptitude in the art of RF/microwave and analog circuit design and measurement.
• An interest and aptitude in semiconductor device physics and integrated circuit design.
• Desirable knowledge/experience includes familiarity with ADS, Momentum, HFSS, Cadence, SPICE, or similar design tools.
• Working experience with RF Test Equipment (e.g. Signal Generators, Network Analyzer, RF Spectrum Analyzer, etc.)
• Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel and Word) and have an aptitude for quickly learning other company-specific software.
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills.
• Good communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Working experience with printed circuit boards assemble and component soldering.
• Preferred working experience with electrical and high frequency (i.e. 50 MHz to 10 GHz) testing.
• Working experience with RF Test Equipment (e.g. Signal Generators, Network Analyzer, RF Spectrum Analyzer, etc.)

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
