Job summary

APX Company is seeking a reliable Powder Coating Technician for our St Thomas facility. You will operate electrostatic powder spray equipment, prepare parts, and ensure high-quality finishes on aluminum assemblies.

You will also maintain the wash bay, ovens, and contribute to coating line efficiency in a fast-paced team environment. We’re looking for 3+ years in powder coating, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and flexibility to work varied shifts, including some weekends.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of powder coating experience, preferably with aluminum parts.
• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate electrostatic powder spray guns and related equipment to apply high-quality coatings to aluminum parts and assemblies.
• Ensure a uniform and consistent finish that meets product quality standards.
• Visually inspect coated parts for complete coverage and finish quality.
• Operate and maintain the wash bay system to properly prepare parts for coating.
• Use cure and dry ovens as part of the finishing process.
• Test finishes and collaborate with the supervisor to address any coating or quality concerns.
• Identify defective products and determine the appropriate corrective action or whether to reject the part.
• Assist with cleaning and general maintenance of powder coating equipment and the surrounding work area.
• Cross-train in other production departments and assist with forklift operations as needed.
• Perform additional duties in support of the powder coating and finishing process.
