Job summary

Heller’s Gas is seeking a Powder Coating Technician to prepare propane tanks for coating, apply powder with a handheld spray gun, and verify a uniform finish. You will load racks into the oven and monitor curing temperatures to ensure quality results.

This full-time, on-site role requires forklift certification, a clean driving record, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Excellent teamwork and independent work capability are valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Background checks, clean driving record, and pre-employment/random drug testing.
• Forklift certification is required.

Description

The Powder Coating Technician position is responsible for the following:

• Properly prepares propane tanks for powder coating
• Applies powder to tanks using a handheld spray gun ensuring an even distribution of coating with a uniform finish
• Loads racks into the oven, monitors oven timing and temperature to ensure proper curing
• Inspects final product for quality of coating

Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Understands the operation of and performs maintenance on all powder coating equipment, adjusting as needed for optimal performance
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving
• Regular cleaning and upkeep of work stations
• Understands all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes pertaining to the maintenance of tanks and propane equipment
• Operate forklift to transport tanks from one area to another if needed

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED
• Employment is conditional on verification of clean driving record, background check(s), and pre-employment/random drug testing
• Forklift certification

Work Environment:

• This job operates in the tank refurbishment center and is primarily indoors. Some job functions may be performed outdoors, exposing the employee to changing weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; push; pull; climb; crawl; kneel; lift in excess of 25lbs; utilize company-provided equipment (i.e. two-wheel dolly, power truck tailgate, hydraulic truck crane); use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position, and regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the ability to work outside of or in addition to those hours as needed.

Travel:

• Travel is not expected.
