Job summary

ADVEX Corporation in Hampton, VA is seeking a Powder Coat Technician to prepare, coat, cure, and inspect metal components according to work instructions and customer specs. You will manage surface prep, masking, racking, powder application, booth and oven operation, cure verification and quality checks.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to read specifications, and safe work practices in a high-volume production setting.

Qualifications

Experience in powder coating or related finishing processes.
Ability to read job travelers, drawings and customer specifications.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Able to stand, lift up to 50 pounds and work in a production environment.

Responsibilities

Review travelers, drawings and instructions to confirm coating type, color, thickness, masking and cure.
Inspect parts for cleanliness, dryness and suitability for coating.
Prepare components via cleaning, masking, and pretreatment methods.
Set up and operate powder coating guns, booths, and ovens.
Monitor temperature, cure time and document production data.
Identify and correct coating defects and perform touch-ups as needed.
Maintain equipment, cleanliness and safety in the work area.
