Job summary

Daybreak Foods, Inc. is seeking an Animal Caretaker to oversee the welfare and environment of chickens under the Production Supervisor. You will monitor barns, report conditions, and perform light maintenance on facilities and equipment to ensure a safe, productive environment.

You will document tasks, observe bird health, manage feed and water, and assist with moving birds between houses. This role requires vigilance with animal welfare and adherence to safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalency preferred.
• 1 year experience in agricultural environment and animal care is preferred.
• Must enjoy working in close contact with animals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security of chickens and premises by keeping doors locked.
• Document completed tasks daily and weekly.
• Observe bird health and feed, light, air and water levels daily.
• Collect and dispose of mortality as needed.
• Move birds in and out of houses and operate moving equipment.
• Maintain and monitor ventilation systems in poultry houses.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor automated environmental and egg flow computers.
• Report deviations to Supervisor and assist with corrective actions.
