Job summary

Aviagen is seeking a Poultry Specialist II to supervise all aspects of contract farms in the Kentucky region. The role involves oversight of farm controllers, ventilation, feeding accuracy, and bio-security measures to ensure high welfare and productivity.

You will support placements, vaccinations and disinfection while addressing grower concerns. Success requires a BS in Poultry Science (or related field), strong communication, and the ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends.

Qualifications

• BS in Poultry Science or related field preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to manage feeding and growth data.
• Flexible hours including some weekends; on-call 24 hours.

We are looking for responsible, qualified and experienced candidate for the post of Poultry Specialist II. This job will be Responsible and accountable for supervising all aspects of contract farms.

Job Description:

Supervising all aspects of contract farms Assist other Poultry Specialist's as needed Basic understanding of Farm controllers and equipment Basic understanding of house construction and ventilation requirements Basic knowledge for production feeding Basic knowledge of rear Resolving contract grower conflicts Bio-security, strain security, animal welfare and health & safety are major responsibilities Assisting with placements, vaccinations, and disinfection May perform other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor

Job Qualifications:

BS in Poultry Science or related field (preferred) Basic computer skills Ability to calculate feed, manage and weigh birds, prioritize work schedules, solve problems relating to growth, performance, etc Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends - on call 24 hours a day Must be self-motivated with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Team oriented Current driver's license 5 years of poultry experience preferred
