Aviagen Turkeys Inc. is seeking a Poultry Selection Assistant to support the Genomics team in turkey selection and data collection. You will prepare pens, locate and move birds, and present them for evaluation while maintaining identities and accurate records.

Responsibilities include data entry, observation of bird health and welfare, and adhering to biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety standards in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Handle live poultry calmly and humanely with close attention to safety and welfare.
• Maintain accurate bird identification, counts, measurements, and records.
• Follow detailed written procedures and data-integrity practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pens, staging areas, lanes, equipment and supplies before selection activities.
• Locate, gather, and move turkeys to the selection area while maintaining order.
• Catch, hold, and present birds for evaluation or measurement.
• Maintain bird identity and group assignments to prevent mix-ups.
• Record measurements and observations using scales and data devices.
• Report injuries, stress signs, or data discrepancies promptly.
