Job summary

Bachoco USA is seeking a hands-on Litter Management Technician to join our field operations team in Fort Smith, Arkansas. You will ensure litter levels are set up correctly in chicken houses before birds arrive and throughout the flock, working in a non climate-controlled environment.

This safety-sensitive role requires practical problem-solving, reliable communication with supervisors, and the ability to travel between locations.

Qualifications

  • No prior experience or training.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Responsibilities

  • Performs litter management. Ensures litter levels are set up correctly in chicken houses, prior to birds arriving and during the flock.
  • Monitors and responds to bird behaviors while maintaining communication with Supervisor.
  • May collect weight and uniformity of the flocks.
  • Works with supervisor and service technician.
  • Takes supplies to growers to include vaccines, wormer, chick paper, rodent control, etc.
  • Visits several assigned locations throughout the day.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.

Summary: Performs litter management. Ensures litter levels are set up correctly in chicken houses, prior to birds arriving and during the flock. Active, hands‑on field operations inside poultry housing facilities; non‑climate‑controlled environment subject to seasonal temperature variations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Performs litter management. Ensures litter levels are set up correctly in chicken houses, prior to birds arriving and during the flock.
  • Monitors and responds to bird behaviors while maintaining communication with Supervisor. May collect weight and uniformity of the flocks.
  • Works with supervisor and service technician.
  • Performs all other duties as directed.
  • Takes supplies to growers to include vaccines, wormer, chick paper, rodent control, etc.
  • Visits several assigned locations throughout the day.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.

Education and/or Experience:

No prior experience or training.

Language Skills:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
