Job summary

Aviagen is seeking a Hatchery Associate I in Pikeville, Tennessee, to support daily hatchery operations with a focus on cleanliness, biosecurity, and animal welfare. The role involves egg handling, chick processing, and packaging for customer deliveries in a fast-paced poultry environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining sanitation, following SOPs, and ensuring equipment functionality while maintaining accurate records. Weekend and holiday hours may be required based on production needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred but not required.
• Experience in agricultural, poultry, or sanitation roles is a plus.
• Able to perform repetitive work with consistency and accuracy.
• Reliable transportation to commute to Pikeville, TN.
• Willingness to work weekends/holidays as production needs dictate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation across hatchery according to SOPs and biosecurity rules.
• Transfer eggs from setters to hatchers per procedures and schedules.
• Prepare newly hatched chicks for processing, including sexing, vaccination (where applicable), packaging, and shipment preparation.
• Handle day-old chicks humanely and follow animal welfare standards.
• Assemble chick boxes and prepare shipping materials for deliveries.
• Assist with hatch pull operations while maintaining chick quality.
• Monitor equipment and work areas for safety, reporting issues to supervision.
• Maintain production records and assist with inventory of materials.
