Job summary

Versova is seeking a Flock Specialist I to support and maintain poultry barns, ensuring health and welfare across shifts. The role requires following federal and state regulations, recording flock information, and performing routine maintenance in barn environments in Sioux Center, IA.

The position emphasizes physical tasks, flexible hours including nights and weekends, and adherence to safety standards. Versova values teamwork, integrity, and high-quality flock care across its network of farms.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of general work experience.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., reach, bend, twist, and lift above the head.
• Must be agile and able to work in various climate conditions.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and holiday hours as required based on production demand.

Responsibilities

• Maintain barns and poultry health and welfare.
• Follow USDA, FDA, and other regulations.
• Check feeders, waterers and equipment; perform routine maintenance.
• Clean poultry houses, pens, feeders, water devices, and egg transfers.
• Keep records on poultry mortality and flock information.
• Walk rows to fix egg jams and replace burnt-out light bulbs.
• Remove dead birds and assist with blitz traps.
• Clean water and feed areas; sweep and shovel pits as needed.
• Maintain proper lighting and ventilation.
• Catch loose birds and ensure equipment and facilities are well-maintained.
