Job summary

General Dynamics - IT is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Analyst to support our intelligence customer on-site in Springfield, VA (also Arnold, MO or St. Louis area). You will manage DB servers, ensure security, and collaborate with developers on schema and performance tuning.

Required: 5+ years in database analysis/administration, PostgreSQL expertise, TS/SCI clearance. Oracle admin a plus and Security+ recommended. On-call rotations are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of related database analysis/administration experience.
• PostgreSQL experience required.
• Oracle database administration knowledge is a plus.
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent recommended.
• Experience with high-availability solutions for PostgreSQL.
• Experience with PostgreSQL monitoring and alerts.
• Experience with backups, restores, migrations, and snapshots.

Responsibilities

• Maintains database integrity, RBAC, and admin accounts.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
• Collaborate with developers on schema design and query optimization.

Our work depends on TS/SCI cleared Database Analyst joining our team to support our intelligence customer in Springfield, VA or Arnold, MO.

HOW A PostgreSQL DATABASE ANALYST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of servers running on one or more operating systems.
• Maintains database integrity and security, configures role-based access control (RBAC), and sets up administrative accounts.
• Sets up administrator and service accounts.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, standards, and procedures.
• Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
• Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
• Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
• Provides advice on performance tuning and training to end-users.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
• Evaluates open-source or vendor tools and participates in database migration/special modernization projects.
• Collaborate with developers on schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, and migrations.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
• 5 + years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.
• PostgreSQL experience required.
• Oracle database administration a plus.
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent recommended.
• Experience in PostgreSQL administration/tuning; including knowledge and implementation of database high-availability solutions
• Experience in monitoring, creating, and managing PostgreSQL server agent alerts
• Experience with Database backup, restore, migration, and Database snapshot technologies/strategies
• Knowledge on how to build/maintain efficient database table structures for both transactional and warehouse data
• Knowledge of Oracle 19c administration and performance tuning
• Migration experience with Oracle, MySQL, and PostgresSQL

Candidates must hold a TS/SCI
