Postdoctoral Scientist, Amazon Robotics, R&D

Amazon is looking for talented Postdoctoral Scientists to join our Forward Looking Initiatives & Technology Enablers (FLITE) Team for a one-year, full-time research position. The Forward Looking Initiatives & Technology Enablers (FLITE) Team's charter is to enable Amazon Robotics Manipulation Organization to innovate on advanced technology development.
The research work for this position will explore the generalization of grasp policies in simulation and on novel hardware platforms.

The Postdoc will research, propose, and develop policies by leveraging state-of-the-art visuomotor policies, data-efficient reinforcement learning methods, and foundation models for robotic perception and manipulation. The candidate will prototype algorithms in simulation and then deploy promising solutions to real and novel hardware. They will provide direction on where we should focus our efforts in this rapidly developing field and innovate and iterate on deep learning solutions for robotic manipulation.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Work closely with a senior science advisor, collaborate with other scientists and engineers, and be part of Amazon’s vibrant and diverse global science community.

  3. Be inspired by challenges and opportunities to invent cutting-edge techniques in your area(s) of expertise.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. PhD in a relevant field, received within 2 years of starting the program
  2. Proven publication record in Manipulation and Grasp Learning
  3. Publications in related topics in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Vision, AI, Computer Science, Econ, Reinforcement Learning, or other related technical fields
  4. Experience in data science and quantitative research
  5. Proficiency in technologies relevant to the subfield
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Ability to independently deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  2. Publications at top-tier, peer-reviewed conferences and/or journals
  3. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  4. Expert knowledge in modeling and performance, operationalization, and scalability of scientific techniques and establishing decision strategies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000.00/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200.00/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
