Job summary

UC Irvine seeks a postdoctoral scholar to investigate the global spatial organization of precipitation, soil moisture, and vegetation using satellite observations and models. The role involves leading analyses of cross-scale patterns, publishing results, and developing datasets and tools, with collaboration across the research group.

Start dates are flexible Fall 2026–Winter 2027. This two-year appointment is renewable pending progress and funding; generous benefits are included.

Qualifications

• PhD in hydrology, remote sensing, Earth system science, or a relevant field
• Proficiency in scientific programming and analysis of large datasets
• Experience with remote sensing and geospatial data analysis
• Experience working in high-performance computing environments

Responsibilities

• Lead peer-reviewed scientific publications.
• Present results at scientific conferences.
• Contribute to development of openly available datasets and analysis tools.
• Collaborate with the PI, mentor undergraduate researchers, and participate in research group meetings.
