Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in computational materials physics to apply DFT and high-throughput methods for discovering and inverse-designing 2D f-electron materials with topological properties.

You will develop workflows, utilize VASP/Quantum Espresso/Wien2k and contribute to a collaborative project across theory and experiment, aiming to enable future quantum information devices at LANL and partner institutions.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science (completed within the last 5 years) is required.
• Strong publications track record in computational materials theory.
• Experience with first-principles DFT simulations and HPC environments is essential.

Responsibilities

• Apply DFT and high-throughput methods to discover and inverse-design 2D f-electron materials with non-trivial topology.
• Develop computational workflows and adapt existing DFT codes for new materials challenges.
• Collaborate with theory and experimental teams to advance quantum information platforms.
