Job summary

The University of Pittsburgh's Department of Radiology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join an interdisciplinary team focused on medical AI and data analysis. The role emphasizes developing data-driven approaches to extract information from diverse medical datasets and support biomedical discovery.

The fellow will work with faculty investigators and clinicians on medical image analysis, multimodal data integration, predictive modeling, and ML method development.

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science, AI, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, or related field.
• Strong foundation in ML/DL, image analysis, statistical modeling, or medical data analysis.
• Demonstrated independent research ability with peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience with scientific programming and Python preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct original research under the principal investigator while developing independence.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate machine learning methods for medical data analysis.
• Prepare, preprocess, organize, and integrate medical datasets; maintain reproducible workflows.
• Design experiments, evaluate model performance, perform statistical analyses, and interpret results.
• Collaborate with faculty, clinicians, and researchers to align computational methods with biomedical needs.
• Prepare manuscripts and conference abstracts; contribute to grant proposals and study protocols.
• Mentor students and junior researchers and contribute to collaborative projects.
• Maintain research code and documentation following standards for data security.
