Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine seeks motivated postdoctoral researchers to study inflammation and innate immunity in the skin during viral infections and chronic conditions. Projects use in vitro assays, organoid cultures, and knockout/transgenic mice to uncover inflammatory and viral restriction pathways.
Experiments cover transcriptomics and gene editing, with a focus on how these processes maintain homeostasis and relate to human diseases, including cancer and chronic
Host-Pathogen Interactions / Inflammation / Immunity
Postdoctoral research positions are available for highly motivated candidates to investigate inflammation and innate immunity in the skin during viral infections and chronic/recurring diseases, including cancer. Experimental models will include in vitro assays, conventional and organoid cell cultures, knockout/transgenic mice, transcriptomics, and gene editing. The studies aim to: 1) identify novel extra- and intracellular inflammatory and/or viral restriction mechanisms, 2) determine how these processes are regulated to maintain homeostasis, and 3) establish connections to human diseases, including cancer and chronic inflammatory conditions, when the pathways are dysregulated.
The positions are available immediately and will only remain open until suitable candidates are identified.
Philadelphia is the 6th largest city in the US and offers a wealth of recreational and cultural activities. Unlike many other US cities, Philadelphia has an excellent public transportation system. The city is home to countless museums, galleries, theater companies, and sports venues. There are plenty fitness and recreational opportunities, and the nightlife is vibrant at the endless numbers of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. During the winter months the Pocono Mountains offer occasions for skiing and snowboarding, and during the summer the beaches in New Jersey and Delaware are close by. Furthermore, New York City and Washington DC are only 1.5 - 2 hours away by car or train.
