Job summary

Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to advance a state-of-the-art digital twin for biofluid dynamics. This role focuses on CFD/FSI, GPU-accelerated computation, and high-performance computing to support real-time simulations for vascular devices and neurosurgical robotics.

The successful candidate will help develop two key components of the virtual testbed: CFD for blood flow simulation and biomechanical device-tissue interaction.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in CFD and FSI modeling.
• Strong background in HPC, including GPU-native solver development (e.g., CUDA) and parallel computing.

Responsibilities

• Advance Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI): Develop and expand GPU-native immersed boundary CFD framework for near-real-time multi-GPU simulations of device-flow-clot-wall interactions under pulsatile flow conditions.
• Multi-Physics Coupling: Bridge hemodynamics and tissue mechanics with a lightweight interface for bidirectional force exchange and geometric constraint handling between asynchronous solvers.
