Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, IL seeks a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Research to join the Arms & Hands Lab. The role designs, develops, executes and implements scientific research in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, advancing rehabilitation science and translational projects.

The fellow will pursue fellowships, present data, publish results, participate in lab meetings, and collaborate with clinicians, patients and external partners.

Qualifications

• Requires the academic knowledge associated with a doctorate degree.
• Typically, less than 4 years of postdoctoral training.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to exchange ideas and to work closely with clinicians, patients and professional organizations.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research in collaboration with a research team.
• Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles to potential inventions and products.
• Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
• Develop collaborative projects within and outside the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and test ideas for new projects development.
• Apply for fellowships and grants for external lab funding and career development.
• Participate in weekly lab meetings, journal clubs and seminars.
• Publish results in scientific journals and present data at conferences.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab mission.
