Job summary

Position Highlights: The U of A Sleep and Stress Group at the University of Arizona, Department of Health Promotion Sciences announces a full-time postdoctoral position in the area of behavioral sleep medicine and workplace wellness. The postdoctoral researcher will join NIH-funded project that evaluates (a) whether sleep health coaching improves sleep disturbances when implemented in a real-world, high-demand work environment and (b) which factors are key in the adoption of sleep health intervention to inform the implementation and dissemination of sleep health workplace wellness programs nationally. This project is led by Patricia Haynes, PhD, CBSM, DBSM, at the University of Arizona and provides mentored training in implementation science, stakeholder engagement, and cognitive behavioral intervention for sleep disturbances.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The training and supervision of sleep health coaches on a manualized, evidence-based behavioral sleep health intervention.
  • Oversight of intervention fidelity.
  • Assistance with data management, data analysis and interpretation.
  • Assists with the preparation of technical reports and protocols and the writing of both academic and professional manuscripts and presentations.
  • The mentorship of trainees and engagement in interdisciplinary training opportunities.
  • Communicates with team members in Health Promotion Sciences, other departments, stakeholders, and other contacts.
  • Assists with the facilitation of implementation strategies.
  • Maintains and manages professional records.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of behavioral health change theories including cognitive behavioral.
  • Knowledge of behavioral sleep medicine methods and theories.
  • Knowledge of research design principles.
  • Competency in key relationship skills, such as active listening, empathy, trust, rapport building.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with professionals at all levels and with non-professionals.
  • Critical skills in reading and discussing health research.
  • Experience delivering health education to varied clientele.
  • Skills in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
Minimum Qualifications

PhD in public health, psychology, behavioral health, health education, or related field is required.

The selected candidate must have a conferred PhD upon hire.
