Job description

The Genoyer Lab is looking to hire a postdoctoral research associate for an NIH-funded position.

The Genoyer Lab studies RNA virus-host interaction through the lens of spatial regulation of viral replication and innate immune activation. Projects focus on cytoplasmic sensing by RIG-I-like receptors of membrane-replicating RNA viruses with a current emphasis on flaviviruses. We are interested in how viruses regulate the localization of their viral RNAs and how and where host sensors detect viral infection. Work in the lab combines cell biology, molecular virology, and high-resolution RNA imaging.

We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist who has experience in mammalian cell culture and RNA virus infections, molecular biology, confocal microscopy and who is enthusiastic about developing novel assays and workflows. Candidates need not have precisely overlapping experience as long as they are eager to learn new techniques and concepts. We are committed to training scientists and helping our team members achieve their career goals. Postdocs can expect to receive mentorship to develop their unique project ideas, author scientific manuscripts, have the opportunity to mentor junior trainees, and present their work at meetings.

The Genoyer Lab is housed in the Department of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology at the University of Florida. We are part of a large and vibrant virology and RNA biology community at the university. Located in Gainesville, FL, we benefit from near year-round sunshine, an abundance of nature, and an affordable cost-of-living.
