Job summary

Cherokee Federal in Port St. Joe, Florida is seeking a Postdoctoral Marine Research Scientist to advance coastal and marine wildlife research through data synthesis, modeling, and field studies.

You will analyze large datasets on fish, sea turtles, sturgeon, and terrapins, applying ecological models and contributing to reports, manuscripts, and policy-ready products. Fieldwork, collaboration, and strong publication records are essential.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in ecology or closely related field required.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience required.
• Advanced quantitative, statistical, and ecological modeling skills.
• Experience analyzing wildlife movement data (satellite/acoustic telemetry, mark-recapture).
• Experience with large marine vertebrate datasets and field research.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize and manage multiple coastal/marine wildlife datasets.
• Develop and apply ecosystem-level models and statistical analyses.
• Prepare reports, data releases, maps, and scientific products.
• Lead and contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts and technical reports.
• Coordinate with partners to validate and integrate datasets.
• Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation.
• Publish findings and communicate to land managers and agencies.
